How to add your business to Bing Places

By Corey Hinde

In our SEO agency, Good Oil Digital, we’ve noticed that our clients are getting a lot more traffic from Bing lately.

So, we thought it would be useful to ensure people had their businesses listed on Bing Places, kind of the Google Maps equivalent for Bing.

There are several maps you should list your business on to ensure people find you (there is a link at the bottom that will help with this), but for now, let’s run through how to add your business to Bing Places.

Step 1: Check If Your Business Is Already Listed

✅ Go to Bing Places for Business
✅ Click “New User? Get Started”
✅ Select “Claim or Add Your Business”
✅ Enter your business name and location to check if it’s already listed
✅ If found, claim the listing and update details
✅ If not found, proceed to add a new business

Step 2: Sign in or Create an Account

✅ Sign in using a Microsoft account (or create one if needed)
✅ Ensure you use an email associated with your business for easy management

Step 3: Choose How to Add Your Business

✅ Select one of the following:

  • Import from Google Business Profile (GBP) (recommended for speed & accuracy)
  • Manually enter business details

Step 4: Enter Business Details

Business Name (Ensure it matches your official branding)
Address (Ensure accuracy for local searches & customers)
Phone Number (Preferably a business landline or official number)
Website URL (Include if available, for credibility)
Category (Choose the most relevant category for your business)
Business Description (Clear, concise, and includes relevant keywords)
Hours of Operation (Ensure they match your actual working hours)

Step 5: Add Photos & Media

✅ Upload high-quality images of:

  • Business storefront (for physical locations)
  • Logo (for branding consistency)
  • Interior (if applicable)
  • Products or services (to attract potential customers)

Step 6: Verify Your Business

✅ Choose a verification method:

  • Postcard (Bing mails a verification code to your business address)
  • Phone Call/SMS (if eligible, a code is sent via call or SMS)
  • Email (only for businesses with an email on record)
  • Instant Verification (if importing from Google Business Profile)
✅ Enter the received code in Bing Places to confirm ownership

Step 7: Optimize & Publish Your Listing

✅ Double-check all details for accuracy
✅ Add any missing business information
✅ Include keywords in the description to improve search ranking
✅ Click Submit or Publish

Step 8: Monitor & Update Your Listing Regularly

✅ Check Bing Places for updates or customer inquiries
✅ Update business hours if they change (especially for holidays)
✅ Add new photos or promotions to attract more customers
✅ Respond to reviews or feedback to improve engagement

Bonus Tips for Better Visibility

🔹 Ensure your Google Business Profile listing is also updated
🔹 Get listed on other directories like Yelp, Facebook, and Apple Maps
